Schatzi our dog injured his eye while running through the woods, do to this injury I drove over 2 hours from northern lower Michigan down to MSU in Lansing.
You can't find any better care then at MSU Veterinary Med Center which is a teaching hospital. Their Staff is friendly and carrying, they are the best. Not only is their staff par none, they also have the newest and top of the line equipment.
While examining Schatzi I was able to wait in one of the exam rooms, while waiting they kept me well informed. They brought Schatzi back to me after the original checkup and diagnosis and offered me different options how to proceed, because with sophisticated technology for accurate diagnoses and treatments there comes also a higher cost, it could include an MRI or an operation and that is why I have Pet Insurance with PetsBest, which I can highly recommend.
After they found and removed a 2 inch stick (Schatzi has a small tear on the leading edge of his third eyelid and a superficial corneal ulceration with reflex uveitis), I was able to see him again. He was put on antibiotics and fluids and was able to spend the night at the clinic, while I stayed in a hotel near the clinic. Next morning Ophthalmology informed me that Schatzi was able to go home, although with many meds.
Schatzi got lucky and he is doing well , we have a follow up exam at MSU in 10 days, I foresee a good outcome.

Pasha sustained a broken jaw and the ICU and ortho departments were outstanding in evaluating and getting us the best treatment options. We looked to MSU after one of our dogs was DX with IMHA and later had hip surgery. For over 20 years we have been totally impressed with the level of expertise from the attending physicians, professors/residents, students and entire staff at MSU small animal clinic.
